A friend if mine suggested I watch a documentary on Netflix, called "I am Maris"....I found it to be really insightful, lots of "yes, that's it" moments for me.  I would recommend it, for support and inspiration, to parents looking for hope. My daughter hasn't watched it, and I'm not sure she should, but I loved it!
Many thanks for the recommendation. I found it very moving, uplifting and hopeful. Lots of similarities to my own D as I’m sure others watching would find. Like you I would be reticent in letting my D watch it at the moment but has given me an insight into how her mind works.
15 year old D. Started to feel low summer 2019. Fall out with friends October 2019. Depressed, self-harming and suicidal from January 2020. Diagnosed with AN July 2020. Slowly coming out of it and feeling hopeful for the future.
Just wanted to chime in. A friend recommended the film to me when my daughter was hospitalized with anorexia. I watched it on my tiny phone with earphones while my daughter slept. I loved it, and now I follow Maris on social media and find her to be an incredible inspiration for recovery, self care and self worth. Highly recommend!
