Hiya, has anyone ever added unflavoured protein powder to food?   Any good or does it just turn into a congealed lump?   Any particular brand recommendations?  Thanks 😃

Never tried it. I would argue though that it would be much more effective to add fats or oils to meals rather than protein. Protein has the same number of calories as carbohydrates and generally it is easy enough to get enough protein in for rebuilding etc.. Fats and oils on the other hand have generally twice the energy content gram for gram as carbohydrates and proteins. 
Many foods take on oils very well. I made things like mashed potato for example with just butter (it tastes even better) and also added butter/oils to rice for example.
D diagnosed restrictive AN June 2010 age 13. Initially weight restored 2012. Relapse and continuously edging towards recovery. Treatment: multiple hospitalisations and individual and family therapy.

I would add oil instead. You can add a spoonfull of oil to just about anything and the brain needs the fats.

We do add some protein to cereal but it is flavoured (forrest fruit or caramel - the caramel one tastes dreadful btw). I can't imagine adding the unflavoured one to anything but ground meat or soup, unless your daughter doesn't mind gravy.

I put protein powder in to the morning shake sometimes at the begining of refeefing. I put oil and HWC for much longer, only now after a year WR I stopped adding HWC (oil a few months ago). 
13 yo d started to eat "healthy" September 2018, she had a growth spurt a bit later, followed by tummy bug. She started restricting breakfast and school lunch in January 2019 (that we know). We succesfully refed at home.
I have found inner strenght, patience and compassion that I did not know I had.

Ground almonds work well in some cereals, stir-frys, sauces, stews and crumbles.

i have read here of a parent in U.K. adding complan powder to foods- that consists of milk powder, sugar and oil.

Thanks.  Already add butter, cream and oil where I can.  Just thinking of additional alternatives as we're on a bit of a plateau. xx

Will she have ice cream? Mine wouldn’t for 18 months after diagnosis but I am finding it a great way now to give high energy snack or dessert, as you can slowly increase amount. 

same with yoghurt. Eventually after a long long time I can serve yoghurt in a glass rather than original container which gives opportunity to increase amount or fortify.

She has ice cream lollies but not ice cream scoops.  Yogurt, she'll have a tub of a specific type.  She is pretty obsessed with calories so I can get away with enriching homemade meals but I think we are a way off introducing high energy items as snacks which can be upped.   I have been increasing her breakfast size in the morning along with the additions to it.

Wife uses almonds smashed in powder form, also oils and a supplement called pro-cal.
We heard too much oil causes diarrea.

Good job on increasing the breakfast size. In particular because the volume can sometimes scare them.

I have been leaving snacks around the kitchen at eye level, such as muesli bars, crackers, jars of peanut butter, jars of dates, dried apricots, almonds. There seems to be less guilt felt by my D when she follows her (still weak) hunger cues.
