Hi all,

Do any of you have any knowledge of reputable treatment centers in the US that will take a 16 year old with anorexia who will not go voluntarily? Not quite medically unstable, but approaching it. First diagnosed 3 1/2 years ago.

Have you tried ERC Denver?  Inpatient and residential I believe has a locked door.

Dear sandytoes,

Involuntary treatment is quite complicted, especially in the US where each state has differing legal requirements. I would suggest ringing some of the centres you would like to use and speaking to the intake consultant. They are universally helpful and are knowledgeable about the requirements.

Best of luck,

Hi there, we went to ERC in Denver. There were definitely patients that were not there willingly. They did a great job and parent support was incredible.  They really helped my daughter.  We are still on the mend from a relapse, but I would send her there again.  Stay strong!
