Pingu
so we have a discharge date of 8th March after 6 months IP.
Ive mentioned here before I have bi polar and even though 7 direct members of the family have bp or other mh illnesses they continued to treat with fluoxetine.
Now the staff are seeing the mood swings that I’ve always noticed and are now considering she may have bp too.
Its very surprising when you seen the symptoms in teens.
Has anyone else had this?

I have really no experience with BP but I do have many experiences with mood swings in ED recovery! Mood swings are quite normal especially around extinction burst.
I think it is really difficult to diagnose ANY other psychological problems as long as there is ED in the brain.

I think mood swings are common with Ed and also just with teenagers in general - I would be wary of labelling something at this stage

I think what’s not been clear is that we have such a strong mh link and I’ve always felt there were a lot of similarities

It is possible as you have it in family, Pingu, but it is also very possible ED behaviour and nobody will be able to tell you before ED moved out. It is like drinking coke and eating cake at the same time and you do not know where the sweet taste in your mouth comes from.
Keep feeding. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
