My 16 yo d is doing so well and has started reconnecting with old friends. Today she wanted to go to a restaurant with a friend, but unsupervised bathroom use is an issue as we do not want to leave the door open for any opportunity to purge. D is trying her best, but ED is so sneaky. So working together we came up with the following plan which I thought I would share in case it is helpful to others: First d would explain to friend that she needed her to be part of her support team. Then, if d needed to use the bathroom, she would call us and have friend say hello, then she just kept the phone on and chatted with me as she made her way to the bathroom, took care of business and went back to her table for friend to say goodbye. We were all really pleased with how this worked today. As I remind her when she gets tired of the supervision, this is all an alternative to residential treatment.
Tempest -18 yo daughter diagnosed with EDNOS since 15, FBT at home WR 12/13, relapse 10/14, Residential 2015 for 3 months, PHP several weeks. New dx bi-polar. Home now seeing good treatment team weekly, attending college. D still occasionally purging but weight stable.
I love this idea !!
