Makes me happy just to see those photos!  What a fun hour or so away that must have been!

I go to work quite early in the morning and I see the sun rise many times per week. As I drive I see the sky changing and I am in awe!
It starts my day off with wonder and a sense of gratitude.

That’s beautiful. I have been thinking about the healing power of the sky recently. We have had migrating geese flying overhead honking. Makes me so happy. I hope others have had the chance to hear as well. Xx

I recently started cross stitching, which is something I liked doing as a child. I create squares for a charity that makes bespoke cross stitched quilts for children with terminal or life limiting illness. I find it very therapeutic and it allows me to turn off my brain or at least distract it from EDs for a little while.

Oh yes the Canadian geese here! I do love their ‘voices’. Hate the poop on the car though!😀
I also love the night sky stars and astronomy, and have recently bought a telescope!! Only used it once and now it is cold, so will pick it up again in the warmer weather!!

KLB, I love hearing how you are enjoying an activity that you previously did as a child.  And using that skill to aid others is in itself a lovely thing.  It is so true that we can 'fill up our own cup' by helping others.  I'm off to distribute books to kids at a pop-up food bank in my community this afternoon. It feeds my soul to see the delight on the faces of kids as they get to choose their own books to take home.

Just bumping up.
This time of year withChristmas holidays/parties, family events can be very stressful with ED on our plates.
Please take time to feed your body, mind and soul.

If you have a favourite activity please post. It may be just the thing that someone needs right now to get them through a tough time.
Thank you!😊

When I think of self care I also think it is ‘self compassion’.
We need to care for ourselves like we were one of our friends and loved ones.
We deserve it, we are worthy of self compassion.

@Enn that’s a great article. I love the notion that the kinder and more compassionate you are to yourself, the better the carer you can be. It feels like it’s more than being about building strength and resilience but also about tapping into an inner resource. More to add to my list of New Year resolutions! Xx

crochet - I taught myself at xmas last year and have made a ton of things in the past year.  It's very easy to pick up and put down, so doesn't matter if you get interrupted. good for something to occupy the mind when you don't want to think about stuff.
Currently no light; only tunnel 🙁

What a great idea @CED123 ! I think there are lots of other benefits to it as well, like keeping the small motor skills strong.

This is a difficult time of the year to me, even without ED, and of course this particular one, our first with ED (even though my D is doing pretty well) was "a bit" more stressing. However, I'm currently enjoying a couple of days away of home. I'm with my kids, husband and mom so it's not like I can do wathever I want, but at least it means no cooking, no shopping for food, no cleaning, no dish washing, good enough for me at this particular time.
13 yo d started to eat "healthy" September 2018, she had a growth spurt a bit later, followed by tummy bug. She started restricting breakfast and school lunch in January 2019 (that we know). We succesfully refed at home.
I have found inner strenght, patience and compassion that I did not know I had.

I like to listen to music and dance when stressed/upset. The physicality and the music (usually upbeat) helps me to get out of my head and focus on the positive moment. I have to think about my steps so I don't think about the upset. Or I sing and dance! It unnerves the kids and we usually get a good laugh out of it. That is freeing!

Not "fun" self care but I finally did some blood work and a mastography and went to my check up with my gynecologist, long overdue. All is missing is dentist appointment, my hair has been dyed and I try to attent my Alanon group (haven't managed lately though). This year I have to find time for "fun" self care definitely.

Yes, having my hair coloured makes me fell so much better, and having good results on blood and masto makes me feel lighter, which I need if I am to keep fighting off ED (this maintenance phase is hard!). I just need to introduce some fun and hubby time this year.
Keep the ideas coming!

When I first found time to go to the hairdresser again I cried there. He probably thought I am totally crazy but it was sooo good to do something nice for myself!

A friend of mine uses a meditation app. Not sure I am there yet. But she does really like it.
