Hello friends, I wanted to share a couple of links that gave me a bit of hope regarding our current pandemic.  The first is a letter that was published in Nature
https://www.nature.com/articles/s41422-020-0282-0
and the second is a short video explaining the action of these meds and why we should not be overly optimistic about their effectiveness against COVID-19.

I hope they are able to find something relatively quickly that works - I know they are testing a number of drugs.  Keep washing those hands!  xx

Thank you Torie. I have been having difficulties sleeping with the anxiety of this covid19. My d is still severely bulimic so her health and immunity is compromised. At 21 she works in a small hairdressers. It’s walking distance so she does not use public transport. The weekends are for socialising at that age and she is carrying on while she can. That is the frightening part for me. She still thinks it’s like getting flu. Oh and she smokes. If we have to self isolate she will struggle. The local store is less than 500metres away so she will be getting binges delivered or from there. Meanwhile the rest of the family are going to work so increasing the risk. It’s terrifying. Trying to reduce my time on social media but as a govt worker & union rep I have to follow certain updates to protect my teams across the south of England. Unfortunately the government don’t seem to be doing enough to keep us informed.
I am concerned that if we get symptoms will my d get treated as a person with an underlying health condition and prioritised or not accordingly. And how will hospitalisation deal with other health issues in this case ED but others will have autism, OCD and many more. Will they tube her? Will she get sectioned due to not eating? Or self harm? Things that get ignored as far as treatment is concerned if the patient does not volunteer for help.
So many anxieties at the moment.
🙁
NELLY D 20 bulimic since age 12, diagnosed in 2011. 20 months useless CAMHs,7 months great IP, home March 14..... more useless CAMHs.now an adult & no MH services are involved. I reached the end of my tether, tied a knot in it and am hanging on. ED/Bulimia treatmentis in the dark ages in West Sussex.

Nelly_UK, please call your local politicians to do MORE and ask all people you know to do that also.

Here they slept for 2 weeks and did not do what the virologists told them to do (they said close down all country 2 weeks ago and maybe now it is too late).
We had more than 1200 new cases in Germany only yesterday. It is not like a normal flue. 5% of the patients need to get a breathing machine and we have not enough for 80 Million people here and I am sure UK has not enough too.

Please step on their feet to act NOW. Schools and bars and restaurants and all not needed shops need to close asap. You are the people and you have some power if you insist on doing something. Here they said that its not necessary and not possible to close schools and 2 days later one german state started to do it and all other 16 followed within hours. ONE needs to start to do something!

I am quite sure our health system will break down like we see it in Italy in the next weeks. And NHS is not better than the german health system...
Keep feeding. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

Really interesting torie, thanks for sharing!
13 yo d started to eat "healthy" September 2018, she had a growth spurt a bit later, followed by tummy bug. She started restricting breakfast and school lunch in January 2019 (that we know). We succesfully refed at home.
I have found inner strenght, patience and compassion that I did not know I had.
Never retreat, never surrender
