Is there anyone from New Jersey who can recommend a medical doctor who understands AN? I can't seem to find a good doctor to help us. My almost 19 yr old AN son is still seeing his pediatrician who knows nothing about ED and he may be doing more harm than good. we really need a good doctor. We are in southern NJ. we went to CHOP, but come January when our ins starts over, we have a high deductible, and they are much too expensive.( Dr. alone was over $900 per visit)

I live in NJ and can recommend Overlook Medical Center in Summit. My D sees one of the medical doctors there. Overlook has an eating disorder unit.

My d. saw Dr Leslie Sanders at Overlook and I could recommend them.

However if you are in South Jersey that is really quite a hike for you. And the Philly area is closer, right?

Another option is that perhaps you can get in touch with

They may be closer to you, and ask them if they can recommend a dr. who is knowledgeable about eating disorders? They must have eating disorder doctors in their network. Or perhaps there are other families on ATDT who can recommend a doctor there?

The program and doctors at CHOP though, have had really had excellent feedback from parents. The reality is that if your son is ill unfortunately you are most likely going to go through your entire deductible next year rather quickly anyway so perhaps that comes into consideration.  And you still have a couple of months before the new deductible kicks in, right?

Hope this gives you some ideas.

Dr Jennifer Northridge at Hackensack Ped center.

highly recommend.  She was/is part of our team. Excellent, great with my 19 year old son and with us, reasonable and yet no nonsense.
