My daughter is at a weight (BMI 21.1) that is acceptable to doctors/nutritionists here. I have been told she is in early recovery from Anorexia. She eats a wide variety including pizza, ice cream, cereal, bagels etc. but still has many ED thoughts and has missed period last few months despite weight gain. She is 16 and more independent and going back to refeeding (we’ve done FBT in the past with success) seems more and more difficult without total disruption of her junior year in HS (social, doing fairly well) Could CBL be the missing piece that may help her understand her disorder more and teach her to continue to independently make her meals however making sure they contain what she needs regarding calories, fat etc.? I know they work there with with nutritionists and therapists as well as thorough medical exam. My husband and I could use help as well in continuing to deal with this as well. We are looking for a push perhaps from someone who has done or considered this program. Thank you.

Dear gubs60,

If you read some of my old posts you will see my comments about CBL.

I have spent one day last year as a visitor to see the 4th day of the 5 day program and found it very good and the families there allowed me to participate in the activities of the day. These families and their loved ones reported that the program had really helped turn the situation around.

I suggest you make contact with them.

Please be aware that BMI is a very poor and not very good indicator of state of health especially mental health. Please try and avoid having it as a reliable measurement. There is a great podcast on the New Plates podcasts with Laura the founder of F.E.A.S.T & ATDT talking to Dr Rebecka Peebles of CHOP on State not Weight wher Dr Peebles discusses the problems of reliance on weight and BMI as sole measurements
