Hi, i wondered if a moderator could please post this on the events thread. Hope Virgo, an author and mental health campaigner is coming to University of Bedfordshire on Friday 4th October to talk about her personal journey with anorexia, recovery challenges, her book and the #dumpthescales campaign. We will also have our local eating disorders service talking about treatments that are available locally. An event suitable for sufferers, carers, professionals, students or anyone wanting to learn more. We have tried to keep ticket price to a minimun and we can offer a discounted rate to all University of Bedfordshire students but we particularly would encourage Psychology, Mental Health Nursing and Social Work students to attend. Tickets can be purchased at https://ceda-talk-ed.eventbrite.co.uk . For more information please contact cedaluton@gmail.com . Thank you. Just a bit confused as I think the write-up says that hope vergo wrote the book brave girl eating ....so is this is a mistake?

Has anybody read the other book mentioned; stand tall little girl, I’m just wondering as I’m looking  for books giving insight into what is like to suffer from anorexia. I’m not sure if this is the right book as it seems to be for maybe older teenagers or young adults

Hi Hendrixt, Hope Virgo is the author of Stand Tall Little Girl. The 2nd edition of her book will be out in early October 2019. Hope suffered with anorexia from the age of 17years onwards I believe so it is more a personal perspective from a young adult. Brave Girl Eating by Harriet Brown is about a young child/teen suffering from an eating disorder and is from a mothers perspective. I found this book extremely helpful and insightful. Hope this helps.

Hi again Hendrixt, I've just realised that the error you was pointing out was on the Eventbrite listing. It has been amended so it now reads correctly. Thanks for pointing it out!!!

Thanks for the advice. I read brave girl eating which I loved and am now reading Eating with your Anorexic by Laura Collins. I’ve read a few books aimed at parents/ carers but am wanting  to read books from the sufferers perspective in order to gain more insight so I can better understand what my D is going through. So Stand Tall Little Girl might be helpful
