Hello, I've read the posts regarding Leigh House and note that they appear to pre-date 2017. Additionally, the general thread appears to be quite negative including an assertion that the site is not ED qualified of aware.

We were referred by CAMHS who attended with us for an assessment. My daughter is mid teen with AN and has had a couple of hospital stays this year. However, is now lower body weight than when first admitted.

At Leigh House the staff we met seemed very lovely and astute! HELP! who can we trust?

Hi PapaElf,
a very warm welcome from Germany and sorry that you have to be here. I do not know Leigh House and cannot help with that but I am sure that others from UK will be here with advice soon.
First question from me: what therapy do they offer there? Are they doing FBT (Family based treatment)?

Hi Tina72, forgive the layman’s phrasing but I believe the treatment offered is refeeding and then either CBT or FBT but I don’t know what the deciding factors is/are.

Hi Papa, I don't have any direct experience of Leigh House myself or any recent experience of CAMHS services but on the whole I would say that if your daughter is being offered a bed in the UK then she may very well need one. There is concentration on outpatient treatment and sadly beds are often only sought by services when the patient is really unwell.

Is Leigh House fairly local to you? It's much better if you can get a bed fairly near to home. Some people are shuttled all over the country which is so disruptive. It looks as if it is a general CAMHS inpatient unit rather than a specialist ED unit. This has it's plusses and minuses Specialist ED care is in theory better, but for what it is worth, I wish my daughter has had the opportunity for treatment in a general CAMHS unit where her comorbid issues could have been addressed alongside the ED.

If Leigh House is your local unit then hopefully they will work collaboratively with the outpatient team and you as her parent to transition back home again as soon as is safe. I hope that they also would work with families who have to travel from further afield

Refeeding should be therapy Nr. 1. As long as they are malnurished nothing in their brains works and they cannot engage in any therapy. CBT might be useful after that when she is at a healthy weight again but might also not be needed then.

FBT is called different in UK sometimes I heard. Ask for that because that will help you with transition at home because there you will be engaged in refeeding process and part of the therapy.
