My d as most of you know has been an IP for nearly 6 weeks and there a nontine frame of discharge.
My worries are that she seems Quite happy being there and it’s almost like she’s at boarding school. She gets on with the other girls but is very quiet with staff.
She seems to be causing issues though - she’s been “firmly spoken to “ by her assigned nurse for bullying a trainee member of staff!!!
She just seems to be pushing everything and causing others to follow suit
Has anyone else had this with IP care?

Sounds pretty normal to me. The staff there are well used to kids pushing the boundaries and are well trained to deal with it. I would try not to worry too much.

2015 12yo son restricting but no body image issues, no fat phobia; lost weight IP! Oct 2015 home, stable but no progress. Medical hosp to kick start recovery Feb 2016. Slowly and cautiously gaining weight at home and seeing signs of our real kid.

May 2017 Hovering around WR. Mood great, mostly. Building up hour by hour at school after 18 months at home. Summer 2017 Happy, first trip away in years, food variety, begin socialising. Sept 2017, back to school FT first time in 2 years. [thumb] 2018 growing so fast hard to keep pace with weight

My d tried to play off everyone in IP. The docs, the nurses, the parents. In fact it was ED who did that. Totally normal to avoid eating, to avoid going home, to avoid normal life at all.
Keep feeding. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

Dear Pingu,

Try to take good care of yourself while she is IP. Your d. is in care and hopefully there will be improvement. Even if it is a small thing, like a bubble bath, a special evening out with dear friend, a good book, meditation, yoga, a walk in a beautiful park, these things can help keep us going in the face of such difficulty. I know it how scary it is since my d. went through it also. I also had a therapist for me so I could unload and discuss how to cope.
