Yes great idea.
CEED in Australia who do lots of work in eating disorders uses the term Family led re-feeding - to me the term could be used with different suffixes  eg. Family led refeeding FBT, Family led refeeding without therapist, Family led refeeding with individual therapist or add whatever other option is wanted
D diagnosed restrictive AN June 2010 age 13. Initially weight restored 2012. Relapse and continuously edging towards recovery. Treatment: multiple hospitalisations and individual and family therapy.

Glad that correction got in there from the Mod. I didn't want to contradict families who are pushing this rock uphill by themselves.
Update- Been texting with DD's therapist, who is on holiday half way around the world. Endorses my gut instinct that it's time to supervise school lunch. She is concerned that DD is heading towards IP. I'm not going to tell DD that last bit and will wait until Monday am to tell her that she'll have the pleasure of my company for lunch every day for the foreseeable. Peaceful weekend and then.....let the screaming begin.

That is a great idea. ED will freak out but that is needed.
However we will call it, FBT or not, food is the medicine and they need to eat and we are in charge for that.
If someone has a heart attack I would start heart massage asap and not wait for the ambulance...

That is such a great idea.  Or maybe FBTWT (Family Based Treatment Without Therapist).  It really would be great to have a name for this.  And also. for when you DO have a therapist but not official FBT therapist.  (Which doesn't work with my suggestion of FBTWT) xx

I would suggest MTE. Make Them Eat. [biggrin]

Hi ziggyStardust, welcome from me too. I also have d RAN 17 next week! Also have the comment ‘does not look that thin’. Ugh! But AN quite entrenched.
Hope that you are able to start the ‘renourishing’ as my therapist calls it. And the $$$ of private therapy, ugh.
Sorry that DH is not supportive. That must be so frustrating. Is he willing to read up on it at all?
Hoping that the journey of food increase goes as well as possible, with not too much flying food and plates!!

It is a common mistake to think that people with RAN must be underweight or look very thin.

Every body has his genetic comfort weight. If it is 80% percentile and they drop to 20% percentile they are not underweight ON THE LIST but underweight for their own personal comfort weight. In some cases the difference between comfort weight and AN thoughts moving in again can be only a few kg.

When the brain is nurished, it recovers. That is the great message. Get her nurished and she will get better. I did not believe it but the change after WR was remarkable.

The trouble with DD is that she has always been very slight. Like 2nd centile from the start small. What other people can't see (who see her in clothes, even every day) is the undersides of her collar bones, her individual vertebrae, the separate bones in her arms etc. What she's losing now is the fat around her organs. That's why every kilo is precious.

Do you mean you're not going to tell her the t thinks she is heading toward IP?   If that's what you mean, I wonder why not.  Although it is rare that distant consequences can have an effect, I think that is one thing that may provide some motivation to eat.

Glad to hear you will be joining her for lunch.  Let the screaming commence. (Or. hopefully not.)  xx

Not going to tell her because it terrifies her and she might give up rather than fight. We're burning each bridge as we come to it.
I just made the most calorific pasta dish ever. It took DD 1 hr to eat it. Like each piece might explode on her fork.
