Just thought I would share some good news. I had a call from my daughter's camhs key worker who was off sick but is now ok..After we have seen the psycholgist this week she will meet with our key worker and then in two weeks we meet with the key worker to discuss a treatment plan. Not expecting miracles and I know we have a long way to go but at least we have a contact. I will discuss fbt with the psychologist so hopefully the key worker will work with us.

Sounds good! It would be good to be able to work together and hopefully be on the same page. It is nice when you have that in-person support.

Hi Faddywrite,
I think I remember that you may have had some important meetings this week? If so how did it go?

Hope it went well.

Thanks. What I loved was that she said its not all about weight but also about whats going on in your mind and the anxiety you're feeling. She did weigh my daughter and she had lost 0.6kg. She asked my d if she thought doing exercise might be stopping her from gaining and my d said yes but when I mentioned reducing it more she said no way. The psychologist smiled and looked at me then said ok one step at a time. I really think she gets my dsughter and my d was really opening up even admitting she doesnt always want to change. The scary thing was when the psychologist asked her if she thought the ed has got worse. My d said it feels like as her brain grows ir has kind of grown around her ed so it feels like part of her..I could have cried but stayed calm and the psychologist even had us both laughing about my daughters expressive eyebrows. I just hope the keyworker is this good as I want to get her to supporf us with fbt.

Well there are a few positives there. I am sorry she lost weight and this psychologist sounds good when discussing about her mind too.

I do understand how shocking it must have been to hear your D say that her ED is part of her.

It sounds like you are finally getting the care you and your family deserve. But so sorry, that it wasn't there so many months ago.

Good to hear that you are feeling supported. It is important to know that in the UK FBT is known as "anorexia-nervosa-focused family therapy (FT-AN)"  . So if you ask for FBT they may or may not know what you are talking about.
D diagnosed restrictive AN June 2010 age 13.5. Weight restored July 2012. Relapse and now clawing our way back. Treatment: multiple hospitalisations and individual and family therapy.

Thankyou I didn't know that.

Thankyou , I did have to explain what happened with the awful anxiety counsellor and the psychologist put her head in her hands then told me how she had to tear down some anti sugar posters someone had put up on the noticeboard in the ed waiting room!!!

Thats a great answer thankyou. I was amazed how honest my d was with the psycholgist. It is nearly a year since this began and just so grateful that we finally have a professional on board who my daughted really likes and connects with.

Faddywrite, that is really positive news about the psychologist! It is also hard to hear that they feel ED is part of them. Hopefully, over time it will get to be a smaller and smaller part of them!
Hope you enjoy the support for both of you!
