I have daughter recently diagnosed with restrictive eating disorder + binge/purge. She's gaining weight nicely with a great FBT team, up to 100 lbs from 84 in about 8 weeks. Our family are avid exercisers. She played soccer and then added track + started taking aerobics classes on top of her regular sports thus with food restriction lost almost 20 lbs in two months. FBT team has allowed no exercise save for causal walking unit weight fully restored plus 4-6 months after weight restoration. I think track is probably not a safe sport for her to ever return to but wondering if others had similar experiences. She is tortured not doing anything being so accustomed to lots of activity pre anorexia. I't's just so hard to know if it's her anorexia wanting to move or coming from a healthy place. FBT says assume anorexia. I would like her to start doing something like restorative yoga, maybe belly dancing or hip hop, something that is not crazy intense but can help with endorphins. Would love thoughts on the subject. 
You are doing a great job of getting the weight back on. I tend to agree with the FBT - casual walking , is probably the best thing for her for at least that time period. Avid exercise although it can come from a joy of movement can also be a part of obsessive behaviours - it is almost impossible to distinguish the two from outside. Ideally the only movement at present should be for joy and pleasure - so necessary movement, walking for relaxation is appropriate. Exercise that significantly raises her heart rate may put her body under more stress than is appropriate. There is a program which is being developed that looks at exercise and safety and how to incorporate movement into eating disorder treatment. It is well researched. D diagnosed restrictive AN June 2010 age 13. Initially weight restored 2012. Relapse and continuously edging towards recovery. Treatment: multiple hospitalisations and individual and family therapy.
No exercise/sports that is unlimited or a single sport or something body related. So I would not think about something like belly dance for example. Yoga might be too boring 🙂. Chose a sport that does not burn too much calories and that is a group sport (so other group activities like going out for a pizza afterwards will follow) and that has a fixed begin and end and can not be done at home (so no secret exercising with it). Volleyball, badminton or back to soccer. But all only when she can control it and when she is able to eat extra for that. She will need to eat more for regular sports.

I think yoga is a good idea. Stretching is very relaxing and she might find that it releases a lot of endorphins. As for returning to team sports, maybe you can explain to her that just in the case of a broken arm, which needs time to heal, so her whole body (including her brain) needs time to heal and that after several months after WR, you can consider team sports again. My d's dancing and gymnastics were part of ED, as she was never interested in exercising before ED. Now she's back to being a couch potato. Others here have found that returning to team sports is possible after recovery. I agree with you to exclude track and maybe aerobics as well when she's recovered. 
D became obsessed with exercise at age 9 and started eating 'healthy' at age 9.5. Restricting couple of months later. IP for 2 weeks at age 10. Slowly refed for months on Ensures alone, followed by swap over with food at a snails pace. WR after a year at age 11 in March 2017. I like the idea of yoga as well.
my d did one week of horseback riding camp and it was nice. She really loved the horses. 
Activities that burn too many calories may be too much right now. My d’s ED was fueled by exercise and standing all the time. Once we eliminated that d said she hated cardio. She is now back to some team sports  and we did restart soccer slowly at 4 months into dx as long as she gained, took breaks, ate more and sat more. But we had to get rid and be aware of her competitive impulses, as that was ED.

Food+more food+time+love+good professional help+ATDT+no exercise+ state not just weight+/- the "right" medicine= healing---> recovery(--->life without ED)

I agree with what the others have said.  Can you afford to have a dog or do you have access to a dog which you could walk with your d?  Exercise with animals is great because it tends not to be really high level or obsessive and the animals and the relationship with them adds another dimension.

If you can afford horse-riding lessons, that is another way of her getting exercise without it becoming obsessive or competitive. Scaredmom's comment above echoes what I feel - the relationship with the horses, the grooming, riding, relating to the horse can be a distraction from calorie-burning for its own sake and could also be anxiety-relieving.

One program my daughter was in did physical therapy to help as they gained weight.  I thought that was brilliant because it taught her to do stretching exercises and maybe ride a bike slowly, walking a bit just to keep the muscles active and to slowly build muscle along with weight.
