For any of you who may be local in NYC and are interested, there will be a demonstration against the Kurbo App which weight watchers is introducing in front of their headquarters on Friday, September 13 at 8am at 675 6th ave. (near 21st street). It is an app which encourages kids to lose weight by counting calories. Here is a link to the demonstration info.

And here is a link to an article in the times explaining what the app is and discussing some of the controversy around it.

I may pop by from 8-9 if I'm feeling energetic enough before I go to work. They will be delivering 100,000 signatures against the app to Weight Watchers.

Currently just really grateful this is not available in Australia at present, and hoping that with all this outcry it won't be. Thanks Kali for standing up for all those children.
D diagnosed restrictive AN June 2010 age 13. Initially weight restored 2012. Relapse and continuously edging towards recovery. Treatment: multiple hospitalisations and individual and family therapy.

Sending all my support to NYC!!

Is there any sort of an online presence we can be if not local to be there in person?  Like a certain email of WW person to flood all at the same time to show a concerted response?
Mom of either pre-diagnosis or non-ed underweight 12 yoa (as of March 2018) kid here to learn how to achieve weight gain.  BMI steadily in the mid 12's for nearly her entire life.  Born 2006. UPDATE:  April 2018 diagnosed ARFID, based solely on weight being less than 75% of Ideal Body Weight.  Mildly picky, but mostly the problem is a volume/early satiety issue, along with abdominal discomfort and chronic constipation, all present since birth.  UPDATE:  July 2019 diagnosed with PANS. Dr. said likely started first PANS episode at less than 1 or 2 years of age.  On long-term daily prophylactic antibiotics. BMI now about 16 after period of intense refeeding prior to PANS dx,  followed by stagnation as we sort out what is next. FWIW ED-D is a fraternal twin and we have no other kids.

Thanks for asking!

There is a petition on change.org. The signatures will be delivered to WW on Thursday.
