So this past weekend my daughter played a show at a local theatre. She has become quite the singer/songwriter/guitar player over the past 4 years.

She played a few awesome songs and then said "This next song I wrote for my mom. I figured since it is mothers day tomorrow that I would write her a song. This is for you mom."

Here are the lyrics:

I can still remember you singing to me
You sang "Baby Mine" while I fell asleep.
And the bad dreams never phased me, cause you were there
Holding me close and playing with my hair.
You told me all of the things that I could do,
And I'm so lucky to have a friend like you.

You raised me right and helped me decide who I wanted to be.
You stayed by my side no matter how wrong sometimes I could be.
You let me know every day how beautiful I was to you.
You're the best mom, no one else would do,
You're my best friend, through and through.

Thank you for wiping my tears
When the only thing on my mind was fear.
And thank you for making me laugh,
and telling me "Hey don't worry ____" (her name)
You help me get better when I'm sick
There's no other love I would pick

You raised me right and helped me decide who I wanted to be
You stayed by my side no matter how wrong sometimes I could be
You let me know every day how beautiful I was to you
You're the best mom no one else would do.
You're my best friend through and through.

You watched me grow
Your love's the love I'll always hold
You held me tight
When my mind went to the darkness of the night.

You raised me right and helped me decide who I wanted to be
You stayed by my side no matter how wrong sometimes I could be
You let me know every day how beautiful I was to you
You're the best mom no one else would do.
You're my best friend through and through.
You're the best mom, no one else would do
You're my best friend through and through.

I was a WRECK. I was a sobbing, shaking mess. y husband and I and her grandparents and siblings and boyfriend and friend were all just crying our eyes out. It was intense. I got home and listened to it over and over and literally heaved with sobs. I think I cried 5 years worth of tears…both for the worst times and the best. Every memory of the past 5 years came flooding back all at once. It was very cleansing and healing.

She is playing a one hour show next weekend at a fundraiser for a women's shelter. Her confidence on stage blows my mind.

She was such a very sick little girl.
She is my hero.

Keep going everyone. I know it feels endless and hopeless at times and like no matter what you do, ED finds a way around, but keep putting up roadblocks and stomping the monster out.

Love to you all.

Persistent, consistent vigilance!

Dear mamabear,

Oh wow just tremendous. I remember some of your posts of a few years ago. I think your D's song was the one Laura Collins put a link to the performance.

I love it!!

Just shows how powerful family can be against ed!!

Hi Mamabear,

How lovely to realize that all that you did for her was appreciated.  How joyous to see her become a free and expressive and creative young woman!
