I've seen several recommendations here for a weighted blanket to comfort kids in the throes of ED anxiety. My ED kid is (knock on wood) doing very well 2 years post-ED, and we remain vigilant. But she still has occasional moments of anxiety (eating unaffected) and the very rare OCD "fit" (sudden obsessive organizing). My other kid also has more run-of-the-mill occasional waves of anxiety.

Does it make sense to have one of these blankets around for the occasional wave of relatively-normal anxiety or OCD? I'd buy one if so. And if yes, anyone have brand recommendations, or weight-proportion recommendations? Amazon has lots of variations, not sure what is best.

Hi EC Mom -

I too thought a weighted blanket would help with my d's anxiety.  I bought my d one and she used it for several months and she said it DID seem to help her sleep. This was several years ago and she doesn't use or need it anymore.

It turns out someone I went to high school with owns a company that makes them.  I contacted her and she was able to help me pick a weight based on what the need was.  I wish i could remember exactly, but I think it was a lighter weight for anxiety issues. Here is her website.  I think her prices are comparable to what you see on Amazon. There is also a chat function to ask questions or a customer service number to call...and a $5 coupon.
