Dear ATDT,

I first found F.E.A.S.T in early 2013 Our daughter relapsed in 2010 even though she had been through six (6) years of treatment 5 lots of in-patient & outpatient 2 lots of government clinic, 2 years of psychology. We had found and been working with our special educator mother Jan Clarke since mid-2010 but I was still in need of something else and I did not realise what I needed until I found it. I needed a place that; got ED’s and got me without question or doubts, gave me a place to vent/rant/rave let off steam whenever I needed to and did not mind me doing that, gave me a place to learn from others in the same or similar situations.

It is now a place that I can pay forward the benefits and rewards I have received. That paying forward effort of mine by becoming a member of the F.E.A.S.T board of directors can achieve quite a bit and can with your help achieve even more. The help that I and the other members of the F.E.A.S.T board would hope that you can do is to join the Newman’s Own Foundation $500k Holiday Challenge! This fundraising challenge provides a special opportunity for F.E.A.S.T to receive additional money from the Newman’s Own Foundation in the form of cash prizes when our & your fundraising efforts reach various targeted amounts.

There are a couple of ways you can contribute to the fundraising challenge. You can simply donate or you can set up your own F.E.A.S.T page within this challenge (Unfortunately though for our Australian FEASTies our not for profit & charity laws restrict us setting up our own fundraising page for overseas charities- but we can donate direct and recommend the fundraising site to our families and friends on social media etc))

Here is the website for the Newmans Own Challenge

Today's update (3) on the fundraising site features a fabulous video from one our our members which you are welcome to share on Facebook if you feel like it

Here is the message from that website

We are asking your assistance to raise much needed funds and help us have a chance of winning the Newman’s Own Foundation $500k Holiday Challenge! Having access to funds of this nature would transform the services we can offer.

In early 2008, a group of parents held an international phone meeting to plan the creation of the first worldwide organization to focus on parents and carers of eating disorder patients. Caring for someone with an eating disorder is tough, scary and requires parents and carers to be the person's vision of wellness until they are able to be that for themselves. Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any psychiatric illness and families are the key to changing this statistic.

Almost 10 years later, the information, support, guidance and advocacy we provide to 7,000 members worldwide has changed the face of eating disorder treatment and the support families can access.

Among our goals as an organization are: to make sure families have access to science-based information and support services as easily and quickly as possible after diagnosis, to influence eating disorder organizations and professionals to consider family as a resource, and to improve public perception and understanding of eating disorders.

Any funds raised will go towards

- developing new online resources for families to access at their time of need

- local events designed to empower and educate families, and provide local networking and support

- ensuring families are represented and acontributing to though leadership at key eating disorder professional events

-developing resources for clinicians and services on including families in treatment.

We are a membership organization and supported exclusively by individual donations. We do not accept corporate sponsorship or advertising.

Dear ATDT,

Please consider giving a few $$ to enable the board to continue delivering help to families/parents/carers. For every $$ given in this campaign there is an opportunity to build on those donations

Son,DX with AN, (purging type) in 2015 ,had 4 months immediate inpatient, then FBT at home since. He is now in strong recovery, (Phase 3 ) and Living life to the full, like a "normal"[biggrin] teen. This is with thanks to ATDT. Hoping to get him into full recovery and remission one day at a time. Getting him to a much higher weight, and with a much higher calorie plan than his clinicians gave him as a target, was instrumental to getting him to the strong recovery that he is in now. Food is the medicine.

If you are at all able to give back to an organization that has helped you & your family, please consider donating to FEAST today, Giving Tuesday.

The opportunity to increase funds to FEAST through the Newman's Own challenge is significant.

Thanks!
