There is a conference about eating disorders, for carers and professionals in June in London, at the Institute of Psychiatry.  I am not good at making hyperlinks but if you search online you will find the programme for the event.

Professor Janet Treasure and Gill Todd, both outstanding and well known clinicians in the field of eating disorders in the UK, have organised the event.  The programme looks exciting and will present up to date knowledge and research and will be well worth attending for anyone who can make it.

The cost is £85 and for all those parents in the UK are struggling - these conferences can provide a time for reflection and can be quite energising, as well as providing an opportunity to meet other parents and carers from FEAST>

To flag up the date in good time.  If any of the mods can make a hyperlink to the programme I would be most grateful!

I have found a link to the conference you mention here.

There really is great benefit in meeting up in person with other carers.  The support I received from meeting up for lunch or coffee with other parents during the most difficult stretch in our family's ED journey was priceless.

As an aside for anyone wishing to include a hyperlink in their post:
  • copy the link you wish to include
  • highlight the word in your reply that you wish to use for the link
  • hit the 'link' icon on the bar in your reply window
  • paste the url.

A somewhat less snazzy option is to just copy the url (click to highlight; hold down Ctrl + C key buttons to copy) and then paste into the text of your message (Ctrl + P buttons to paste).

Then the link will show up like this:

You beat me to it sk8r31 and Torie

It is absolutely great to meet up and talk to people in person and maybe this would be just the opportunity for some of us UK parents.

It's a pity it's at the other end of the month of June from this http://www.aedweb.org/index.php/conference/iced-2017/schedule but if any of our friends from around the globe are still in Europe by 23rd June it would be great to see them there. The Institute of Psychiatry (the Maudsley itself) isn't exactly the Tower of London or Buckingham Palace but it has a particular place in the history of Eating Disorders and isn't toooooo difficult to get to from central London.

it's a pity it's not free of course. This one is, but it's in Bournemouth which is difficult to get to for some, although far from all of our members https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/early-intervention-in-eating-disorders-conference-tickets-32531047238

Thanks for the heads up on this - just had a look at the programme and it looks great - plus the prospect of informal contact with other carers and FEASTIES is pretty irresistible... and I do have friends 15 mins walk away...better get looking at train fares!

O bother! Do keep looking at it though as last time (they ran one in London on a similarly free basis) they had loads of spaces really - especially as a good proportion of professionals didn't bother to turn up and claim their free spaces - ironic really as the theme last year was dropping out of treatment

I contacted the organisers (via the contact the organsiers button) to ask if there is any chance of more tickets becoming available. The site now says "this event is full. Please email diversity@bournemouth.ac.uk to be placed on a waiting list."
which I'm about to do

Fiona - I hope you get a place on the free one, but if you get to London too it'll be lovely to meet up.
