Hello. I am a fairly long time user of this forum and , of course, have been through it all with my ED daughter. I believe, that she has recovered. We have been through the ups and downs and the horrors of it all, sampling possibly everything London has to offer, or not, depending on how you want to look at it. I have a lot of materials, and experiences of the services on offer, garnered over our journey, which I'm happy to pass on to someone. I am not saying we got it right, on the contrary we got it wrong so many times, but somehow we came through. I think I am experienced in trying to navigate the school system too . Some of my child's friends/cohorts didn't make it . We were an extreme case too. I hope we can offer some hope too. I dont know if this is allowed but if anyone is truly in dispair, I hope we can offer hope too. I made a promise to myself that I would try to help if I came through this nightmare and we have. My D is in a very strong recovery, has been for two years, Please feel free to contact me and I am happy to talk on the phone or have a coffee. Nobody should have to go through this alone.

Dear Doitagain,

So glad your D is in recovery.

If you are in London in early June I would love an opportunity to have a coffee as I will be passing through London on my way to Prague then on thw way home

Thank you doitagain for offering your help to anyone who is close by. To clarify, the rules of the forum are about not linking to paid services, advertising etc.. Just offering yourself to help someone/anyone out who is in the trenches is fine

Doitagain, this is great, and I'm keeping a note of this, as there are often Londoners who want to know more about what's useful or not locally. Are you familiar with child/adolescent and/or adult patient services?

Hi Doitagain,

You have actually already helped me—although you didn't know it! Yours was one of the journeys I read about when things were particularly bad with my d. and your persistence in the face of your daughter's illness was inspiring to me. I used to look people up when they wrote that their kids were doing better and see what they had been through and what they had done in order to get to that place and it helped me to hope that things could get better for my d also.

Best wishes

Kail

Dear Do It Again,
I'd love to talk to you as we try and navigate the Ldn NHS ED services. We mostly have problems with them so any help would be appreciated. Thank you for offering. A

Dear Doitagain, it doesn't seem to be possible to email you, so I'll post here, but feel free to email me. There's a family asking me about any good services in Surrey, as they will be moving there soon. They say "somewhere between Virginia Water (West) to Walton (East)" This is for a young girl. Any suggestions?

Doitagain, it seems as though the members are having trouble emailing you. It may be that you have your settings so that you do not accept emails from others on the forum, it is worth checking your FEAST settings to see if you are set to accept emails.

HI all - I am not sure what the problem is with the emails! When I look up my own username it shows it clearly on the members list. I'll try to fiddle with the message system to make sure I am not inadvertently blocking it in some way by not doing the settings right .

DEar all - I think I have changed my settings now. If a moderator could try to contact me and let me know if it's not working that would be great. Also - if you could let me know where and how to change my settings/ensure they are right that would be very helpful. I'm not really technologically savvy ! Thank you.

It still says "private" where it should say "email Doitagain," but I don't know how to change that. xx

Hi Doitagain

I've sent you an email let me know if you receive it.

To edit your profile, click on your name and then a window will come up with your info. On the right you will see a header called General Information. To the right of that you can choose edit. When you get into the edit window you can make sure that you leave private unselected and check to see that your email address is correct. That should do it. I went in and saw that the private box was indeed checked and have unselected it for you. I hope that is ok.

Doitagain, in case you missed it, do you have any local know-how in answer to my question? Or may I put these parents who need the info in touch with you?
Thanks so much
Eva

Oh dear, this seems to be a problem that has developed since the single sign on via FEAST. There are no settings on ATDT that I can see that allow email receiving to be turned on or off, clearly though it would appear that at some point doitagain has elected not to receive emails via the forum.

I have checked the FEAST website and can't see a setting there either.

I will ask a few of the back channel experts and see if they can work it out.

Hi Doitagain- it would be great to meet up with you at our support group (on Friday in Kingston)- there is another mum and I who are reaching out to other families and it would be amazing if we all link up and help them together- a team of anorexia fighting super heros!!

Hello blommie ! I am sorry - I just can't make it work. I've checked my settings and they're not marked private. WHen I try to email you, you come up as 'private' too! Are you getting messages via the site from other members or is it only me with email not working?

Alethea - I have managed to email you with my number as your email was not listed as private and the "email member" button was red - mine is black. SO.. it's a start. I just don't seem to be able to receive member emails - I can't be the only one - can I? X Blommie - can't get through to yours - maybe you could post the details on the connect page and I could try to be there? Do you know if anyone drives there from central/west London that I could grab a list with as Kingston is not on the underground iand I don't drive . Otherwise I'll figure it out x

We are trying to get this problem sorted back of house. There does not appear to be a setting change front of house, so there will need to be a tweak of the website to get things working. Will let you know when we work it out.

I changed mine by- going onto my profile- clicking the little 'edit' tab on the top right corner- choosing the 'preferences' tab and the ticking 'receive emails. I can be emailed now according to my computer [smile]
